I started my academic career at the University of Bath graduating with a Masters in Engineering in Integrated Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in 2015. This included a year in industry where got my first experience of the railway industry designing signalling simulators. Upon graduating I returned to the industry and after several years working in a few roles including as a consultant, systems engineer and project engineer with industry suppliers.

Most of my roles have been delivering new command and control systems, in particular automatic route setting and traffic management systems. I joined the EPSRC Geospatial Systems CDT as part of the 4th cohort at Newcastle University under one of the industry studentships offered in collaboration between Newcastle University and Network Rail.

I want to bring my wealth of experience and domain knowledge in digital signalling control systems and large complex systems into academia to explore modelling strategies for rail network predictability, human performance and chaotic behaviour appraisal and how these strategies could benefit the industry.

I hope to use my knowledge of existing industry solutions with academic thinking and processes to develop and apply leading techniques and research in geospatial systems to the railway. These strategies that could then be utilised across the industry to improve predictability across the UK rail network.
